Almond Berry Dream Smoothie

I’m in love with this Almond Berry Dream Smoothie right now. Between the almonds, blueberries, and flaxseed oil this delicious smoothie is a filling, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant powerhouse. It’s the perfect supplement to a meal or start to a successful day.

Over the last two months I’ve been deep in Smoothie Land compiling and refining my top smoothie recipes I’ve created over the last four years to make available for all of my SIBO friends- not just friends who frequent my kitchen. Smoothies were my go-to snack or fast meal while I was on SIBO treatments and have remained a constant in my life for safe, healthy, filling supplemental meals. Learning to be creative with such a limited diet as a SIBO diet was challenging for me but now I find such delight in creating smoothie recipes that are safe, satisfying, and reminiscent of decadent desserts. While refining smoothie recipes and taking photos last week my Smoothie Land took over my dream land and I began envisioning smoothies in my sleep. The following morning I woke up with this Almond Berry Dream Smoothie on my mind and I had to try it immediately. I was amazed that in the midst of all my smoothie endeavors (spanning years), I never though to put this combination together. Slowly waking up and strolling into the kitchen, I grabbed my blender and began the Almond Berry Dream. This smoothie has been my favorite since.

I hope you enjoy this dreamy creation and feel inspired to bring healing power to your SIBO journey.

I was recently diagnosed with SIBO and this smoothie has been a lifesaver for a snack or light lunch. I add a dash of cinnamon and it’s delicious!

It depends. Some store-bought almond milk contains illegal foods for SIBO like gums and sweeteners. So it depends on what you can find and what you tolerate. Always check the ingredients list.

Thought blueberries are high FODMAP? Same as honey mentioned elsewhere on your site.

          Thank you for reaching out!

While the SIBO diets incorporate low FODMAP foods the low FODMAP diet was not designed for SIBO. Honey is high FODMAP but most people who have SIBO will tolerate small amounts of it and it is included in the SIBO diets. Blueberries are allowed on all of the SIBO diets and are considered low FODMAP in small quantities (1/4 cup).

Check out the Bi-Phasic Diet and the SIBO Specific Food Guide for more information on diets for SIBO.

          Great questions!
          Elena
