You need someone to believe in you.
It’s true. If you are going to get better, if you are going to find answers, heal, and recover from whatever illness you have YOU NEED SOMEONE TO BELIEVE IN YOU. And you need someone to believe you can get better.
This could be a doctor, a friend, a relative, a spouse, a spiritual leader, a neighbor…
This person should believe in your health and healing and encourage you that you can keep searching for answers, finding new treatments, and one day regain your health. You need someone who says, “I believe one day you will be better!”
If you do not believe yourself and if you do not have someone else in your life to prod you forward and help you stay on track the journey may be brutally difficult or you may not succeed.
My husband and my sister, my doctor and my mom have all played this roll in my life.
My sister told me five years ago she thought I would get better. At the time I was so sick and we had so few answers that I didn’t believe her. She told me every… single… time I saw her. I don’t know why she thought it was so important to state the seemingly impossible but she always ended our time together with a hug and “I believe you will get better. One day you will be able to eat whatever you want again.” Sometimes her words made me cry, sometimes I thought she was totally crazy. But she believed.
If you do not have a team already, ask a friend to join you in believing in your health. Even if it is hard for them, ask them to make it their job to be your personal cheerleader, someone who is on your side and will be the first to state, “You will get better!” True friends will make that sacrifice.
If you do not have a team yet, I want you to know that I believe in you. The human body is designed to heal itself. If you fall and scrape your knee your body will mend itself and generate new skin closing any open wound. If you have been sick for a long time there may be systems in your body that need help. Your body may need more nutrients, a pharmaceutical drug, time, herbal medicine, or the removal of toxins. You CAN find out what it needs and provide for it to heal. Continue looking for answers.
Keep searching. Keep hoping. Keep believing.
I believe one day you will be better!
