Whiskey Sour

Doesn’t it seem like life gets real, really fast when you have SIBO? Everything gets difficult and all aspects of your life suffer- your social life suffers, your job suffers, your family life suffers, your sanity suffers, and everyone at the gym knows how your workouts have suffered.

So, I wanted to create a recipe that felt like life was still normal. This recipe is like that for me. While I love a good bourbon neat, this recipe is like candy. The kind of thing that people without SIBO will want to drink. It is sweet and flavorful. You can make it when friends come over or take the ingredients to share at a party. It is simple and quick to make and sure to please.

This recipe is an adaptation from the Bulleit Bourbon recipe found here.

Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 Tbs fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 1 slice orange
  • 1 -3 frozen cherries depending on preference
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Mix the lemon juice and honey together until they combine.
  2. Add the cherries and orange slice and muddle together.
  3. Add the bourbon. Mix with ice until it has chilled.
  4. Pour into a cold rocks glass straining out the crushed fruit. Serve over ice if you’d like.

Recipe Notes

Omit the cherries if you want your whiskey sour to be the traditional yellow/orange, or do not muddle the cherry and add it at the end.

If you have a hard time dissolving your honey, try making a small simple syrup by mixing one teaspoon of hot water with 1/2 tsp of honey and mix until the honey dissolves. Then use this simple syrup with the lemon juice.
